What is Coffee Card?

Coffee Card is a multi-cafe membership loyalty program that encourages people to discover and return to great local cafes.

What does it cost my cafe?

Nothing. There is no setup fee, monthly fee, or participation fee.

What does it cost customers?

Coffee Card costs $30 for one year of membership.

What's the catch?

There really isn't much of one. Participation is free for cafes, there is no long-term commitment, and each cafe chooses its own offer. Coffee Card works best when the perk is simple enough for staff to apply and meaningful enough for members to use.

What if we already have a loyalty program?

Coffee Card can work as a simple loyalty program on its own, or as a complement to one your cafe already runs. If you already have a loyalty program it usually works best to choose a Coffee Card offer that feels separate and does not compete with your existing rewards. Each cafe decides whether its Coffee Card offer can be combined with other discounts or promotions.

What do we have to offer?

Each cafe chooses its own Coffee Card perk or discount. There is no required standard discount.

What are examples of offers other cafes provide?

Current cafe offers include things like 10-15% off coffee drinks, a free coffee drink with a qualifying food purchase, a small discount on bags of coffee, or a free pastry or cookie with purchase. Each cafe chooses the perk that makes sense for its menu and margins.

Can we change our offer later?

Yes. You can change it as many times as you want. Simply contact us to let us know what you'd like it changed to.

How does it work at the register?

Members show their active Coffee Card wallet pass, and staff applies the cafe's listed offer.

Do we need to install anything or change our POS?

No. Participation currently requires no new software, hardware, or technical POS integration. The only POS setup we recommend is adding your Coffee Card offer as a dedicated discount button or item so staff can apply it consistently and you can track usage internally.

How much staff training is needed?

Very little. Staff just need to know what the Coffee Card looks like, what offer your cafe provides, and how to apply it at the register. The register sign includes a quick cheat sheet on the back as a refresher if questions come up.

How do staff know the Coffee Card is valid?

Members show the Coffee Card wallet pass from Apple Wallet or Google Wallet as proof of membership. If a digital pass is no longer active, it is removed from the customer's phone automatically. Coffee Card does not currently require staff to scan a code, look up an account, or use a separate verification app.

How does Coffee Card promote participating cafes?

Participating cafes are listed on the Coffee Card site, promoted in the member newsletter, and may benefit from Coffee Card media outreach when opportunities come up. Past examples are listed on the press page. We cannot guarantee a specific amount of traffic or coverage, but we try hard to help promote all participating cafes when there is an opportunity.

Do cafes earn anything from referring new members?

Yes. Participating cafes can receive 50% of a new member's purchase when they sign up through your cafe's QR code.

How are referral sales tracked?

Each cafe receives a small 5x5" register sign with its own QR code. When someone signs up after scanning that QR code, the purchase is attributed to your cafe automatically.

Is there a contract or long-term commitment?

No. There is no formal contract or long-term commitment. Just let us know if you'd like to pause so we can update members about the change.
